The Beijing trend is to buy things, the most expensive items and then talk about it all the time.
For example, I know many people are waiting for the iPhone 4 and believe it or not, they might spend more than 600 euro on it.
You might think that the iPhone 4 is not just for the cachet, it’s the technological benefit and function, but it seems like they don't use any applications.
If you ask why iPhone 4, they will answer: “It's cool, and everybody wants it”, which is a great motive, but also because “I buy this coz I wanna know why everybody wants it”, also an awesome reason.
So that's the major trend, but also paradoxes because everything that’s old fashion is now cool. Green military shoes, blue gym clothes, and small ornaments... you name it. It also shows the huge city somehow feels proud of itself, although not that strongly.
